Short bio
Dan Allen is a software consultant, author, and open source advocate. After graduating from Cornell University with a degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2000, Dan became captivated by open source software and web development. He spent the first couple of years dabbling in PHP, but later discovered Linux and Java EE to be the ideal combination on which to build his professional career. While logging his many years of experience with enterprise Java, Dan kept his eyes open for a robust web-application framework, the most coveted spot in a developer's toolbox. Upon reading about JBoss Seam, Dan immediately recognized its potential and selected it to fill this void, where it joined the numerous other Java technologies that Dan has mastered, including EJB 3, JSF (Facelets), Spring, JPA, Hibernate, Ant, Maven 2, and Groovy. Excited about Seam, Dan decided to share his thoughts with the world. He is the author of Seam in Action, published by Manning Publications, a project which he picked up immediately after completing his three part series on Seam for IBM developerWorks. Dan is also a committer on the Seam project, an active participant in the Seam community, and a Java blogger. Dan's continued success would not be possible without immense support from his wife, Sarah, with whom he lives in Laurel, MD (USA).
