Short bio
Olivier Liechti discovered the Java platform at the University of Fribourg in 1995, while he was implementing a graph editor in C++ (on top of the ET++ framework). Since then, he has worked extensively with Java technologies both on client-side, server-side and mobile projects. After graduating from Fribourg University, Olivier has spent four years in Japan. Doing research in the areas of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) and ubiquitous computing, he was focusing on human-computer interaction issues. Olivier also worked for six years as a software architect for Sun Microsystems. At Sun, he was mostly engaged in large enterprise architecture and integration projects. Since 2007, Olivier is a Professor at the University of Applied Sciences, Western Switzerland (HEIG-VD). He makes extensive use of the NetBeans Application Platform in his R&D projects. Olivier holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from Fribourg University (Switzerland) and a Ph.D. from Hiroshima University (Japan).
