Abstract

Any serious attempt to testing needs automation to catch regression errors as 
early as possible. Experience with large commercial systems shows that the 
activity of test automation needs both, knowledge of the business domain and 
mindful engineering.

This talks goes through the four main testing paradigms: capture/replay, 
model-based testing, data-driven testing and scripting, to show the strengths 
and limitations of each. The free open-source web testing tool Canoo WebTest 
will serve as the basis for various examples that show the paradigms in action. 


By the end of the talk, you will have a solid understanding of when and how to 
use each testing paradigm and what features to look for when choosing a testing 
tool for your web applications.
