Short bio

Olav Sandstå is senior staff engineer in the Database Technology Group at 
Sun Microsystems. For the last seven years he has been working on the internals 
of high-availability database management systems with focus on high performance. 
Today he is working as a performance lead for Sun's involvement in the Apache 
Derby project. Prior to joining Sun he worked on the Clustra DBMS. He has a PhD 
in storage systems for digital video archives from the Norwegian University of 
Science and Technology.
