Observability for Software Engineers
Once upon a time you could write your code, lob it over the wall, and some poor ops team would pick it up and monitor it and run it for you. Not anymore — and turns out those were the bad old days, not the good old days. Modern software engineers should *want* full ownership over their code — the ability to write it, deploy it, debug it in production. Let’s run through some examples that talk about how to instrument your code, why you should want the ability to debug on production systems, and the ways that building a culture of observability in from the start builds better software and stronger teams.
